National Youth Committee Brief overview
Introduction
The National Youth Committee (NYC) is a national structure elected by provincial delegates and its role is to provide national strategic direction, manage and coordinate the entire youth work of Southern Africa. The committee is formed by 2 representatives from 9 provinces.
Vision
The AOG/ Back to God National Youth Organization aspires to be a leading Christian youth organization in Southern Africa that will develop young people spiritually, morally, socially and intellectually.
Mission statement
- Lead the youth to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and provide for their spiritual growth while promoting high moral standards.
- Provide financial support and facilitate access to financial assistance to the needy youth for higher education studies in scarce skills.
- Capacitate young people with leadership and management skills and provide them with development opportunities for a meaningful contribution to the church and the society.
- Foster awareness and responsiveness to the social needs of the youth within the church and to broader societal needs.
Provincial and National Conventions
AOG youth holds its annual provincial conventions in all 9 provinces including Swaziland, Nambia and Lesotho which are also part of the South Africa. The dates for conventions are scheduled yearly by the respective province.
National Youth Conventions are held bi annually at Thaba-Nchu in Free State. The National Youth Committee is responsible for organizing the conventions.
Mandate of the youth
Soul winning and Spiritual Development
In pursuit of mission statement 1: Lead the youth to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and provide for their spiritual growth while promoting high moral standards, we have a mandate to win souls back to Christ and also provide spiritual growth and development by holding youth weeks, youth days, open airs etc.
Education mandate
In pursuit of mission statement 2: Provide financial support and facilitate access to financial assistance to the needy youth for a higher education studies in scarce skills, All the province continues to provide financial assistance to needy and deserving young people.
Leadership and development
In trying to pursue mission statement 3: Capacitate young people with leadership and management skills and provide them with development opportunities for a meaningful contribution to the church and the society, the youth has a responsibility to develop future leaders who will contribute to the society and to the circular world.
Social responsibility and awareness
I pursuit of mission statement 4 : Foster awareness and responsiveness to the social needs of the youth within the church and to broader societal needs, the youth leadership therefore train the youth to be responsible by providing social services to the communities.
Financial Income
The youth organization depends on free will collections at local level and consolidate those funds and prepare budget. No external fund raising system in place.
